I found myself listening to this program in or about 1987/88. Detroit radio markets had crashed ( as far as I was concerned ) and the evil empire ( clear channel communications ) destroyed everything here in Detroit called radio. Even our public radio stations went to crap. Musically I’ve always been something left of center. I would follow mainstream music, but I needed something else other than mainstream to find a balance. It was pure chance I tripped across this program. First song I recall hearing; which I went to a Canadian music store in Windsor to buy, was Sarah Mc Lachlan’s with the group Manfacture / We Stand Alone. Her voice was so angelic to me at the time.

Then when Skinny Puppy found its way into my ears…. I was completely hooked on BNW. Something that Clear Channel couldn’t destroy. Musically, I was getting my life back. As music the shift during the late 1980’s just wasn’t wearing well with me, this show was a breath of fresh air. This show even prompted me to buy electronic music equipment and learn the “how to” play it.

Thanx Brent and the Brave New Waves Family !
