The time of the night is really important for that. I do think we played the best music available and found new stuff that other radio stations would never, never broadcast.” ~ David Wisdom on Nightlines

“I think it’s the same kind of life-altering thing that happened when I discovered the show libing in the crappy suburbs outside of Ottawa. It strikes a chord with a lot of people. It’s the idea of a borderless beyond. Most of the tone of the letters we get are about that: ‘Oh my god, there’s more!” – Patti Schmidt on Brave New Waves

“It was simply the desire to do something different, creative and fun. The tone came through because of the personalities involved, and a sense that the music should be as cutting edge as possible. I had a real sense of the space of the place, a place that people came to every night: bring the people in and let us sit around and let’s not be too serious. In fact, let’s not be serious at all. It was live. If you had seen our preliminary notes – if I can call them that – we were talking and finding [radio] series from the archives and other broadcasters from around the world and running them on the show. All of that dissolved after a week. We found the format we could afford, which involved technicians who were as crazy as everybody else, and a live studio where anything can happen.” – Augusta LaPaix on Brave New Waves

UPDATE: November 23, 2015 It is with equal parts frustration and disappointment that I find myself being compelled to remove the CBC Nightlines and Brave New Waves archives I have hosted at this page since April 2012. In September 2015 I moved the growing archive of fan recordings to a subdomain of this site and…

["post-1301","page","type-page","status-publish
["GET
