{"id":1308,"date":"2012-04-30T20:29:05","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T20:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?p=1308"},"modified":"2012-04-30T20:33:23","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T20:33:23","slug":"android-to-ds106radio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?p=1308","title":{"rendered":"Android to #ds106radio"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='e-content'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 15px;\" src=\"http:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/2251996\/android_headphones.jpg\" alt=\"android phones\" width=\"180\" height=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Have an Android powered phone? \u00a0Been looking for a way to broadcast live audio to <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=whitestone.pockettransmitter.full\" target=\"_blank\">Pocket Transmitter<\/a> allows you broadcast to <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> in same manner as things are done with <a href=\"http:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?p=688\" target=\"_blank\">Papaya Broadcaster.<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is one small snag &#8230; this application requires users to connect to IceCast using Shoutcast-compatibility mode. \u00a0Once of the key elements of <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> is the ability to &#8216;kick&#8217; the \/AutoDJ rotations out when someone connects \/LIVE. \u00a0Shoutcast-compatibility mode users connect via listener sockets &#8211; which works fine, but listener socket connections do not support <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icecast.org\/docs\/icecast-2.2.0\/icecast2_config_file.html#relay\" target=\"_blank\">fallback points<\/a>. \u00a0The fallback points are the little magic IceCast2 functionality that allows \/LIVE cut-ins to scheduled playlists.<\/p>\n<p>But &#8230; by setting up a second server for Android connections using listener sockets, <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> can be configured to effectively listen for any\/all activity on any mountpoint and relay broadcasts to \/LIVE <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a>. \u00a0At this point there is about a 40second delay between the relay IceCast server and the main <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> server when someone connects &#8211; I&#8217;m working on reducing this delay. \u00a0Happy to report the sound quality is excellent. \u00a0May a thousand Androids bloom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/draggin\" target=\"_blank\">@draggin<\/a> has been in the contact with the developer of this application who has indicated that he is considering direct support for IceCast2 &#8211; this would eliminate the need for a relay &#8211; allowing users to connect directly to <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> from their Android devices &#8230; stay tuned &#8230; looks like a promising $4.99 option.<\/p>\n<p>Here are your settings for Pocket Transmitter:<\/p>\n<p>Server: \u00a069.90.148.151<br \/>\nPort: 8000<br \/>\nPassword: ds106<\/p>\n<p>You can watch for your connection at:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/69.90.148.151:8000\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/69.90.148.151:8000\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>30-40 seconds from connection you will see your \/LIVE Android broadcast at <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> at:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/208.82.115.69:8010\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/208.82.115.69:8010\/<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have an Android powered phone? \u00a0Been looking for a way to broadcast live audio to #ds106radio?
