{"id":38,"date":"2008-11-06T10:48:17","date_gmt":"2008-11-06T18:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.unbc.ca\/~gpotter\/?p=38"},"modified":"2008-11-06T10:48:17","modified_gmt":"2008-11-06T18:48:17","slug":"olpc-physics-jam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?p=38","title":{"rendered":"OLPC Physics Jam"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='e-content'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3080\/2683612806_5471e45a6a_m.jpg\" alt=\"OLPC Physics\" hspace=\"15\" vspace=\"10\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" align=\"left\" \/><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\">I<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\"> made a note in my &#8216;to do&#8217; list to check out the results of the<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.laptop.org\/go\/Physics_Jam\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"OLPC Physics Game Jam Wiki\"> OLPC Physics Game Jam<\/a>\u00a0that took place at Cambridge, MA over two days in August. \u00a0The Physics Game Jam was\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\">devoted to producing physics-based games, levels and demos for the XO. \u00a0Participants broke into teams to do some fast and furious coding to test out the a new Physics engine available to the XO.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\"><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It did not disappoint. \u00a0I installed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.laptop.org\/go\/Physics_Jam\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Babel\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color: #000000; font-style: normal; text-decoration: none\">Babel<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: normal\">\u00a0on my son&#8217;s XO and we had a blast building and knocking down creations in this simple, yet fun game. \u00a0Even more impressive was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.laptop.org\/go\/Bridge\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Bridge\">Bridge<\/a>. Bridge challenges you to\u00a0Join girders-to-girders and connect to edge girders on land using a simple joint tool.
