that and the programs were exactly my kind of radio &#8211; diverse, sometimes zany, always entertaining, and infused with personality.\u00a0 The video above is WFMU station manager <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ken_Freedman\" target=\"_blank\">Ken Freedman<\/a>&#8216;s keynote address at the <a href=\"http:\/\/openedconference.org\/2009\/\" target=\"_blank\">OpenEd2009 conference<\/a> in Vancouver.\u00a0 In this address Ken  refers to how the station branched into webradio and how added elements like the online, social components presented growing pains as DJs feared loss of control over their programs.\u00a0 There are parallels between WFMU&#8217;s experience and bringing innovation to institutional teaching and learning, as noted at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ctlt.ubc.ca\/2009\/08\/25\/oec-ken-freedman\/\" target=\"_blank\">UBC CTLT site outlining this talk<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Like the DJs at WFMU, it only takes experience and understanding for  educators to grasp that changes to their traditional methods can and  will enhance the learning and teaching process.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Many people have DM&#8217;d and\/or emailed me to offer micropayments for <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a>.\u00a0 I am absolutely thrilled that folks love <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> such that they are willing donate to keep it on the air.\u00a0 Turning on <a rel=\"tag\" class=\"hashtag u-tag u-category\" href=\"https:\/\/networkeffects.ca\/?tag=ds106radio\">#ds106radio<\/a> and hearing folks broadcast their music, readings, stories, and sonic experiments is all the support I need to keep the station pushing signal.<\/p>\n<p>However if you think live, freeform webradio is pretty great and want to show your love with a small donation &#8211;
