Spent a great day last Friday in Vancouver talking open content, loosely coupled strategies, copyright concerns, among other issues at the BCCampus Learning Content Strategies conference in Vancouver.

While being a fantastic opportunity to network with other edtech-involved designers and managers working with BC post-secondary institutions I also gathered some insight into a number of innovative technical and organizational methods being employed in the province. Some methods I will most definitely be bringing back to my shop are the MediaWiki embed technique, the WordPress Wiki Ink plugin, a curiosity in the potential application of Adobe Contribute as a version control method for colalborative content development, and a demo of a freshly minted BuddyPress.

Among the new tools emerged FreeLearning.org – a BCCampus sponsored federated search engine that models how open tools can be leveraged to knit together a very useful, flexible, extensible resource.

Conference notes and links to resources can be found at the conference wiki.
